Midlife Fashioned cocktail recipe

An easy Old Fashioned with more rock and less talk

Bedtime Bourbon Midlife Fashioned cocktail recipe is an updated Old Fashioned
Louisville’s original cocktail, the Old Fashioned, originated at the Pendennis Club in the late 19th century. If you’re not 150 years old or can’t remember the 1880’s, perhaps our  updated version is for you!

Scavenge this stuff from the kitchen

• 3 fluid ounces (9 cl) of Bedtime® Bourbon straight bourbon whiskey
• 5 dashes of Fee Brothers orange bitters
• 2 sugar cubes OR 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of sugar
• A big ice cube, as big as you can manage to fit in the glass
• Club soda
• 2 Luxardo Maraschino cherries
• Toothpick
• A drink delivery device (preferably a clean glass with a big opening, but that plastic tumbler you got free from your job will also do)

Put it together

1
Put the sugar or sugar cubes in the glass.

2
Get the sugar wet with five healthy dashes of Fee Brothers orange bitters. Don’t be shy.

3
Throw in a splash of club soda.

4
Smash the sugar, club soda and bitters together with a muddler or wooden spoon until the sugar is no longer distinguishable as granules.

5
Tilt the glass around so this sweet stuff kind of coats the inside walls of your glass.

6
Place that big ice cube in the glass.

7
Finally! Add 3 fluid ounces (9 cl) of Bedtime Bourbon. Mix that around with a stirring rod, blending in the sugar and bitters from the bottom of the glass.

8
Brutally stab a couple cherries with your toothpick and drop that into the side of the glass.

9
Bottoms up!
